Alabaster skin with a shock of mandarin orange and sunflower yellow hair in a razored disarray, Nia is as punk as her personality is. Her uniform is decorated with various patches from famous bands she has met before (but nobody needs to know that) and she likes to scuff up her uniform, purposely looking unkept. She always keeps her tie loose, her shirt untucked and her shoes are replaced by sneakers. She's not very tall, another nickname of her is "Spritz" like a "spirte" but don't let that fool you. Her body shape is athletic and fit, perfectly proportioned to her height. She never dresses up nice but she does like to wear make-up. Usually stuff that sparkles.

Nia is a pill that is very difficult to swallow. She's generally unlikable due to her volatile personality. She's got a bad temper, she'll anger over the most trivial of things, and she'll hold a grudge. She's miserable, ever since losing her soulmate, she's been like that, and feels that others should feel her misery too. She's smart mouthed and a hard rocker, questions authority constantly, though Meredith keeps her in check. She is guarded and doesn't open up to just anyway, the only person who really knows the depth of her personality is her brother. Otherwise she's hostile and people tend to avoid her path. She'll go out of her way for people to notice her however, she hates to be ignored and doesn't take well to isolation. She has moments of kindness but they are very rare.

For a vampire she is monstrously strong and fast. She loves to hunt in the woods, disliking the school's lunch boxes. she doesn't feed off humans, since she was once a snack for a vampire once, and only eats off animals. She's intimidating, despite her stature, and that is often used to her advantage. At night she has noctural vision and she heals quickly as long as she feeds regularly. She's intelligent (though snarky) and actually does well in all of her classes. Once you get past the horrendous personality, she's a very real and sincere person, but very few have ever seen that side of her.

Her personality is probably her greatest weakness. She hates to see other people happy, particularly in love, since she knows that she'll never be fully happy since her soulmate is dead. It bothers her enough that she'll go out of her way to make those relationships fail. She questions authority a lot too, and it gets her in lots of trouble. She's not afraid to get into the face of someone twice her size (and in some cases three times her size) if they make any comments about her. As a vampire the sun weakens her during the day and silver is quite painful. Fire also is something she avoids greatly, even though she models her hair to look like it.

She was born just before the turn of the century to a wealthy family, her father was in industry and was making a great deal of money in the steel business. She grew up pretty and petite and picture perfect, everything her family wanted to be. Her family had given her so much, it was only fair she behaved as she should. They eventually made good friends with another wealthy family who had the last name of Redfern. Unbeknownst to Nia and her family, they Redferns were just using them as a blood bank, and eventually a bank roll. They betrothed Nia to their son Linden, whom Nia had very little interest in. It turned out that her soulmate was the gardener, and being two humans, they only assumed that it was merely pure love, not the connection that can bind two souls. After her debut as a debutante, it became clear her parents were setting up wedding plans.

Nia planned secretly with the gardener, Frederick Yates, to run away together before she actually was to marry Linden. Unfortunately when Linden was using her as a snack, he found out about her secret. While he wasn't so much obsessed with her, he was angry that she would deny him, a man of wealth, for a man of little consequence. As revenge for this, he killed Frederick and when Nia went to meet him, she was turned into a vampire. Being an illegal vampire she was forced to flee and go into hiding, since she would be hunted and killed. After a bit of roaming she was taken in by a woman by the name of Meredith. A Jane Austen fan through and through, they would take on different last names from the books, currently they are using Dashwood. But also over the years, the anger and frustration of losing her soulmate has made her a very emotional girl. Violently emotional. She's cruel to others that are not her family and even with them, she can be nasty.

Nia was eventually sent to the in-school shrink, Evander Troy, and during their first meeting they shook hands, revealing their connection. Nia discovered she'd been an Old Soul once before, and the two had been continually reborn in each lifetime, though now if they die it's truly the end.

With that knowledge, the arrival of Linden on campus has struck a new fear and the possibility of leaving the school entirely.
